Portfolio > Art About Art

,,,or as some people say, appropriation art. For many artists, museum-going and the study of art history plants certain paintings in their brains that then find their way into their own work. Manet used a Giorgione nude as model for his "Luncheon on the Grass". Picasso did endless riffs on Velasquez's "Las Meninas". And so on.

Although a few paintings in this section are parodies of the masters, most were simply inspired by them.
